Succession meetings out of our hands

NEWS & STAR COLUMN 16.09.21

CUOSC fully understands the frustration of fans who want to see progress on the ‘succession of ownership’ issues at the club.

While we continue to await the outcome of a number of meetings that may help bring matters to a conclusion it should be recognised that CUOSC is not in control of when these meetings take place.

While we would like them to happen as soon as possible it is not in our hands. It is understood that the holiday season has led to the postponement of some of them.

As soon as there are any developments and there is something firm to report we will inform our members – it is in our own interests to do so.

We also have to be ready to accept that we may not get the conclusion we would like. However, we will continue to work towards bringing about the best outcome for both the fans and the club.

The final report of the government’s fan-led review into the governance of football is due to be published later this autumn.

While CUOSC have fed into this report we want to find out more of what our fans think good looks like for football and Carlisle United.

As promised at our recent AGM we will shortly be producing a questionnaire to help us move forward.

It is an extensive document and covers all aspects of the game. The plan is to send it to our members first and then put it out to the wider fan base. Watch this space.

CUOSC wants to thank everyone who contributed to our Face in the Crowd initiative. It helped raise around £13,000 for our ‘Carlisle REUnited’ campaign. The cut-out portraits that haven’t been collected and have been donated to the club are now on display at the entry to the Pioneer Stand.

We have used some of the money to help the club buy a state-of-the-art Nordbord – fitness equipment for testing hamstrings. The latest instalment, paid this month, enables the club to update the software and brings our contribution to £6000.

We have also agreed to fund an underlay for the pitch protection blanket they already have, making it more effective. It is due to be shipped from China and will cost about £1500.

Don’t forget our supporters’ surgery before Saturday’s home match with Scunthorpe – in the study centre next to the club shop between 1.30 and 2.30pm.
