Board Meeting Summary – September 2020

Held online using Zoom, 16.09.2020

There were no apologies.

Frank Beattie and Nigel Davidson were re-appointed unanimously as Chair and Vice-Chair. Alastair Woodcock re-appointed unanimously as secretary. Peter Harrington to continue as treasurer.

There had been little boardroom activity recently. The position re: succession has not moved significantly.

Carlisle REUnited: Fund had reached £8,063. The Board are matching £123 raised from new and renewed memberships during August. Nigel was sorting out final details for ‘Face in the Crowd’ with the club. A planned raffle in support of the campaign was discussed. Business backing for the campaign was again being sought, with Frank as lead. Over 20 businesses were being targeted.

The plan for CUOSC volunteers to pack season tickets had had to be postponed due to the club’s need to get Brunton Park ready for the return of supporters under COVID restrictions. Volunteers had instead been working at the ground today to tape off sections of seating and put up signs. There was further work to do tomorrow. The club was still ringing round fans to organise payment for season tickets. They got the formal go-ahead to allow fans back in for Saturday’s match against Southend at lunch time today.

There had been media interest in the return of supporters and we had been contacted by That’s TV Cumbria and BBC Look North to do interviews. Jack and Frank were made available.

Membership now stood at 395 with under 100 now still to renew. Non-renewed members were being chased up this week. Finances remained sound.

Next meeting – October 14 (via Zoom)
