Board Meeting Summary – June 2020

Date: Wednesday June 24, 2020
Venue: Online using Zoom

Apologies: None

The latest position re: coronavirus was discussed. The club were providing comprehensive updates via CEO Nigel Clibbens. An absolute salary cap for League 2 was under consideration but there had been some opposition from the PFA and the proposals may take more than a season to fully implement. There were no firm developments about the start date of next season but a consensus was slowly forming around early September, with either no crowds or crowds with spacing restrictions.

The board considered two new policies to adopt for social media and equality. An updated disciplinary policy was also discussed. There was no change to it from our existing disciplinary policy other than references to Supporters Direct being replaced with the FSA. All three policies were unanimously adopted.

The Carlisle REUnited campaign had raised over £6,000, with this figure being reached at the weekend. Potential further fund-raising ideas were discussed, with one at an advanced stage which had received the backing of the Club. Over £600 had now been pledged to the ‘Looking Good’ sponsorship drive and we would give this one last push next week, once the view counter exceeded 2k of the 3k target.

The preparations for the AGM had been delayed by the lockdown and it was decided to put back the date from July 26 to August 23, with the meeting to be held virtually by Zoom as previously agreed. The accounts had still to be finalised and would need to be independently examined and signed off by the Board before notice of the AGM could be given. Three board members in Malcolm Nugent, Carol Wilson and Nigel Davidson were due to stand down by rotation this year. Kyle Sproat and Jack Oddie as current co-opted members to decide if they wanted to stand for election.

Social media posts were now being scheduled in advance and support videos from former players and managers were appearing every week. The website had received record traffic levels during May and was still performing well, with almost 2k users recorded since the REUnited campaign began on May 18.

Membership had risen to 459, with a bank balance of over £4.8k. Some members had already renewed for next year.

It was agreed to change Be Just and Quiz On to once a fortnight.

Next meeting: July 22
